Blog Tour: A Necessary Deception (Review)

Are you a fan of regency romance (books set during the height of London Society)? Then you might want to check out A Necessary Deception the newest historical novel by Laurie Alice Eakes.

This novel, full of intrigue and deception, is also filled with images of London balls, operas and well, the "cream of society" for that time period.

But woven in the midst of the "fluff" is a story full of angst, betrayal and redemption - for many of the characters.

Eakes has crafted a novel, the first of a new series focusing on the three Bainbridge sisters, that is a fun read - but also packs a punch.

The main character, Lydia Gayle, struggles with control and trust issues - and how decisions she made in the past directly impact her future.

In all, it's a good book - I enjoyed it much more than Eakes last book. It definitely earns at least a three on the scale of one to five. I picked it up with trepidation, but found myself wanting to know what happens to Lydia's sisters - (the next two books, I'm sure!) here's to giving an author a second chance - sometimes you find yourself pleasantly surprised by a new series.

More About The Book
From The Publisher
When young widow Lydia Gale helps a French prisoner obtain parole, she never dreams she will see him again. But just as the London Season gets under way, the man presents himself in her parlor. While she should be focused on getting her headstrong younger sister prepared for her entrée into Society, Lady Gale finds herself preoccupied with the mysterious Frenchman. Is he a spy or a suitor? Can she trust him? Or is she putting herself and her family in danger?
