A new book, journey of sorts

So I picked up a book while I was in Houston.
I never buy hardback books on a whim.
I'll buy them if it's necessary, but typically, I'll wait until it's in paperback....

I met some friends in Houston for coffee (an buddy and her daughter) - that alone - the "I drove in Houston for the first time and got lost - humorous and fun story will wait for another time.

After we said goodbye, I did a "buzz" through Barnes and Noble - our meeting place - to see if they had a book I've been wanting to get for my children's ministry.

I thought I'd buzz through the "religion" section to see what's new.

This book "One Month To Live: Thirty Days to a No-Regrets Life" by Kerry and Chris Shook Pastors at The Woodlands Church in Houston jumped out at me.

I'm not sure if it was the title, the info on the fly leaf, or the Holy Spirit's prompting.

Anyway I started it today. Today was day 1. I'm not sure what I'm expecting to happen, but I'm tired of living life as if I'm just existing. I'm tired of thinking that I'm just moving forward, without meaning. I'm tired of living the "maybe if I'd done this" or "what if I'd done that" lifestyle.

The book fly leaf (inside cover stuff) talks about living a life with "wholehearted authenticity, honesty, and integrity."

It also talks about examining core areas of your life and how to "live passionately, love boldly, learn from your mistakes, and leave a legacy that endures for generations after you’re gone."

If anything It's going to make me journal again - on paper. I'll share some of the thoughts here, because well, typing is how I think now....but some will remain private.

Anyway, it's a start. We'll see what happens on this journey. Maybe this is God's way of getting me to stop each day, to focus on Him, to think about things other than my ministry worries. To live a life that shows how He is working in my life.

To live, and leave a legacy that shows His love and grace.
