Sunday/Monday update

I’m typing this on Sunday evening, but I’m without net at my apartment …so I’ll post this update/you’ll read this on Monday.

I’m better. The headaches began to subside Saturday, when low and behold, Claritin was suggested by the pharmacist. I never thought an “allergy” med would help with migraines, but it cut the sinus stuff, so hey, I’m not complaining.

So, Thursday and Friday were pretty much “go to work, come home and crash” days. My aunt got here on Thursday afternoon, (right in time for the first migraine and “spacey” me (shh…she only thinks it’s because of the “incident” don’t burst her bubble).

It’s been good to be at home. Not that I’m not extremely grateful for everyone who let me stay with them, and who has been shuttling me around for the past two weeks, but there’s something to be said about your own bed, pillows and blankets.

Mom keeps reminding me this “limited independence” will be short lived – unlike her six months stay in a body cast when I was four (car accident/hip rebuild). She said the first bath (also known as the first whirlpool treatment) after six months in a cast felt like heaven. – Basically, this was her way of saying “going without a car for a while won’t be that bad considering….”

Mom and Aunt B “ganged up” on me Saturday morning (mom came down for the weekend) and I can say some of it was good “kick in the booty” ganging up on… Remember that goal to simplify my life??? Well, let’s just say, I’m headed there, kicking or screaming…or willingly.

Aunt B has conquered Christmas and the linen closet….she’s turning her attention to my bed room. By the time she’s finished (by the end of the month), I’ll be healthy, organized and finally unpacked. She’s found a few things I have and said “did you remember you had this?” Truthfully? I’ve just been working hard since I got here, and before that, spent the last two years at Joplin Daily – I barely had time to breathe, let alone know what I “had/have” in the apartment.

Have I mentioned that I “cut” the cable…as in my basic (albeit limited) cable tv? I really had it, so I could watch the networks – I live in a hole between Tulsa/Fayetteville/Joplin apparently, an impossible section to exist just on rabbit ears.

I wasn’t sure what it would be like. I canceled it at the first of the month, and by the time I got home on Thursday, My tv was filled with snow.

Basically, I now have a “movie” monitor. – I’ve already watched two movies from my collection, and plan to do more, but only when I want to… besides I figured up I could do a lot with the $180 per year (at least) just the cheep cable was going to cost me…. To start with, I’m sending some $$ to an orphanage in Brazil (where I went in Nov. 2006) so they can have an “ice cream” party. I think the third, fourth and fifth grade SS class is going to take up an offering to help make it some “kick.”

Tonight I came home, talked with Aunt B, ate some supper and got ready for bed. By the time I finish this – in a few more minutes, I’ll be headed to bed.

Today was the first “full” day that while I got tired, I didn’t get a headache or need more than a 20 min nap to “perk up.” Maybe the worst is behind me.

No news on the medical test. I’ve left messages on Thursday and Friday for the dr, to see when he might have the results, or to see what the next step is in this medical journey. I’m going to assume that “no news is good news,” at this point. I’m also going to assume that it’s going to take more than two weeks to “cleanse” the medicine out of my system.

Today went well at church though. It was a full day, I was worship leader in the celebration service this morning, and only stumbled across a couple of names – I feel like a complete idiot when that happens, but let’s face it, that happened before the “incident.” (So what’s new?)

Then after lunch with Mom and Aunt Be (at AQ chicken of course – my one special “eat out” meal this week – I fell asleep riding home from Fayetteville, then got home in time for my then got home in time for my 4 p.m. middle school girls small group, my 6:30 p.m. mission trip parents meeting and my 7 p.m. children’s ministry team meeting.

Tonight’s the first night, after a full day, I don’t feel ready to crawl out of my head. Maybe things are returning to normal. I just need clearance to drive….again, the need for independence.

Tomorrow will be the key (Monday). It’s a double yuck header – newsletter and envelopes – and everything has to be to Uncle Sam by 3 p.m. Thank goodness Aunt B can take me tomorrow./today.

Anyway, before it’s all said and down, I’ll be “reprogrammed” to eat healthy (it’s amazing how something simple like veggie soup tastes right now), sleep when my body tells me “uncle” (actually right now, so this is almost to the end) and eat – (Yes mom, I’m listening – small breakfast – small lunch – small dinner, works better than no breakfast, no lunch and chowing down at Supper.

Anyway, I’m fading. For my digi scrap friends/CT teams. I’m going to try to scrap Monday/Tuesday, IF the headaches stay away. If not, it may be a few more days unless I find out I need to have my glasses checked – could a “fall” change my vision? – to stop the headaches.

Anyway, thanks for putting up with me. Thanks for your prayers. I’ll catch ya soon. Hopefully with a real test result.
